This story starts with the sentence: "People who think parking is only for them," and that's just one of those sentences that can get every adult immediately worked up. Life isn't regularly the most peaceful experience, but there's just something about being in a car that gets the rage going quicker. And when you're in a car, and you're just lucky enough to meet one of those folks who treat parking spot lines like they're suggestions and leave the rest of us to play Tetris around their vehicle, it's like a perfect storm.

Saturday at the mall is already minor-league purgatory. Add in a car parked smack in the middle of the driving lane, like someone decided straight lines are for losers, and it starts to feel like a test sent straight from the universe. Not only is the row blocked, but someone in a small car is now locked in place, collateral damage in a parking lot melodrama.

  • Getting towed is expensive and humiliating. But honestly, seeing that car dragged away feels less like schadenfreude and more like justice. Sometimes the parking gods deliver, and sometimes they just serve up a reminder of how fast chaos shows up when one person decides the rules don’t apply to them.
